Course Description
Many people with disabilities rely on Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) to provide income support and ensure access to Medicare or Medicaid, especially now as they and their families deal with the repercussions of COVID-19 and how new programs that Congress has passed (including economic stimulus payments and expanded Unemployment benefits) interact with Social Security and SSI benefits. It will also briefly examine proposals in Congress to improvements to Social Security and SSI, including eliminating work disincentives and marriage penalties and increasing asset limits and benefits, both in response to COVID-19 and as general improvements to the program.
