Description:

This session presents results of collaboration using technology, self-determination and a tier structured training program within Smart Living Learning and Earning with Autism (SLLEA), an innovative organization providing transitional support for independent living, employment and post-secondary education for individuals with autism in Eugene, Oregon. Self-determination and technology use have been implemented as tools to promote ISP self-direction, self-management, self-advocacy, and team collaboration as students move through a tiered support structure with the goal of living on their own. Session includes an overview of the platform and illustrations of how it has supported self-determination for SLLEA students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Introduction to SLLEA as an agency
  • Overview of Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS)
  • Overview of Cognitive Skill Profiles and how we apply them in supporting our clients in IL
  • Illustrate how we utilize assistive technology to promote independent living
  • What our application process entails
