Being Trauma-Informed: The Basics of Safe and Supportive Care

$65

October 9 @ 9:00 am 11:00 am

Instructor(s): Lindsay Dutton

This session will give you a basic understanding of what trauma-informed care means and why it matters. You’ll learn how trauma can affect people’s behavior, health, and relationships — and how we can respond with care, respect, and support. We’ll also talk about ways to create safer, more welcoming spaces for everyone, especially people who may have experienced trauma.

Participants will be able to:

1.    Say what trauma is and give examples of how it can affect people.
2.    Explain what “trauma-informed care” means and why it’s important.
3.    Name a few ways to support people in a trauma-informed way.
4.    Recognize signs that someone might be impacted by trauma (without needing to know their full story).
5.    Think about how to make your space or services feel safe and supportive for everyone.
