Explore the emotional impact of care work by learning to recognize compassion fatigue, build resilience, and apply trauma-informed strategies. Through reflection and peer connection, participants will identify sustainable practices to support well-being and ethical care.
Participants will be able to:
• Describe compassion fatigue and compassion satisfaction in plain language and recognize how they show up in direct support and case management roles.
• Identify signs of emotional exhaustion and secondary trauma, and understand how these impact their ability to support others effectively.
• Explore the principles of trauma-informed care and apply them to their own well-being and workplace culture.
• Reflect on personal experiences of compassion fatigue and satisfaction, using guided activities that center lived experience and peer connection.
• Practice resilience-building strategies, including boundary-setting, values-based self-care, and collaborative support systems.
• Commit to one or more sustainable practices that support long-term resilience, satisfaction, and ethical care in their work.
