Treating Neurodivergent Clients in the Mental Health Setting

$150.00

Event Date/Time: September 20, 2024, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm (lunch 12:00 – 1:00 pm)

Instructor(s): Jennifer Cork, LCSW

This training is for mental health providers and contains information about neurodivergent diagnoses, the social model of disability, lack of access to treatment for neurodivergent populations in the mental health system, treatment strategies, and resources for continued study.

Participants will:

  • recognize traits of neurodivergence in clients who may or may not be officially diagnosed.
  • analyze, examine, and discuss the ethics of competency vs ableism in the mental health system.
  • collect and prepare potential adaptations for therapy interventions for neurodiverse clients.
  • recognize a meltdown or shutdown and be able to apply support strategies for clients.

Our trainers provide digital copies of materials and automated captions during every online training. If you need any additional accommodation to fully participate in this training (such as interpretation, human captioning, or large-print forms), please email your request to training@thearcoregon.org at least two weeks prior to the start of the event. Include the date and title of the training in your email request.
