Let’s Talk About Sex! — For Professionals

$40.00

Event Date/Time: July 30, 2024, 1:00 – 2:30 pm

Instructor(s): Shanya Luther, M.Div.

It can be incredibly difficult to know what to do when you need to talk with a client and/or their family about sex and sexuality. Professionals often feel awkward trying to start a dialogue about sexuality, bodies, gender, and relationships and are concerned about their professional liability. And sometimes professionals are worried about their client’s health and safety risks or aren’t sure the person has the capacity to consent. Learn to navigate these difficult and sometimes contentious issues.

Join us to:

  • Understand why talking about sex and sexuality is so important
  • Build skills for opening a dialogue about sexuality as a professional
  • Recognize the need for shared definitions
  • Learn strategies for talking about sex and sexuality
  • Identifying special considerations for individuals with ID/DD or neurodiversity

Our trainers provide digital copies of materials and automated captions during every online training. If you need any additional accommodation to fully participate in this training (such as interpretation, human captioning, or large-print forms), please email your request to training@thearcoregon.org at least two weeks prior to the start of the event. Include the date and title of the training in your email request.
