“I was attracted to science fiction because it was so wide open. I was able to do anything and there were no walls to hem you in and there was no human condition that you were stopped from examining.” ~ Octavia Butler
My “Why” I have a passion for serving people by being a voice of change, an active advocate, a voice of empathy, and a mission to make sure everyone’s voice is included. As someone with a chronic illness, I use my own challenges to fuel me and push me even harder to be an advocate for others and a voice of inclusion.
About Me My journey in the I/DD field began in 2015 when I went to work at a foster home in McMinnville OR working with a great group of adults. I worked there for a few years and then transitioned into a case management role at a brokerage. I was a Personal Agent for a few years and provided person-centered support to adults who lived in their own homes. I have some experience providing case management within the APD (Aging & People with physical disabilities) field where I determined service eligibility.
In 2022 I pursued my dream of becoming a trainer and came back to the I/DD field working as an OTAC trainer for the Arc Oregon where I currently enjoy growing and learning while connecting with case managers and providers in the field. I am a LifeCourse Ambassador, and I am working on a mentorship to become a Trauma-informed care trainer. I am passionate about teaching person-centered practices, trauma-informed care, and the ways we can support people to live their best life.
How I Can Help I can provide training, consultation, and support in relation to the Oregon Individual Support Plan (ISP) particularly around supporting adults. As a LifeCourse Ambassador I can also provide training around utilizing additional tools to support the ISP planning process.
