Mental Health First Aid training coming soon from The Arc Oregon
The Arc Oregon is offering, evidence-based, life-saving Mental Health First Aid courses throughout Oregon to help bridge the devastating gaps in mental health care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) like autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy.
Starting in January 2025, you can get trained to:
- Recognize the warning signs of mental health crises in people with IDD;
- Understand the unique needs and challenges of adults with mental health needs;
- Respond appropriately during a potential crisis situation; and
- Access resources and support for people with IDD and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Up to 40% of people with IDD struggle with mental health issues. People with disabilities also face much higher risks of suicide, depression, isolation, and violent encounters with law enforcement. By improving mental health literacy and awareness, we can save lives.
The Arc Oregon is proud to offer these critical training opportunities as part of a national partnership with the The Arc US and the United Health Foundation. Join the movement towards mental health equity!
We’ll be offering the MHFA-Adult training virtually this year and if your team is looking for a private group training, please contact us!
